A NOTE FROM LAURI:
Explaining the example cards above. There are two example cards above. The objective is to add, subtract, multiply, or divide all four numbers on a card, including all positive and negative numbers, and get the answer 24.
With the first 1-dot card, with the numbers (9, 3, 2, -6), you can:
Subtract: 9 - 3 = 6
Subtract Integers: 6 - (-6) = 12
Multiply: 12 * 2 = 24
Summary Equation: ((9 - 3) - (-6)) * 2 = 24
With the second card, a 2-dot card, the wheel numbers are (8, -2, -5, -6). You can:
Multiply Integers: ((-5) * (-2)) = 10
Add: 10 + 8 = 18
Subtract Integers: 18 - (-6) = 24
Summary Equation: ((-5 * -2) + 8) - (-6) = 24
Now it's your turn! Can you use these example cards and get to -24 as an answer? (Check the "Learn More" tab for the answers!)
24 games emphasize critical thinking skills. As kids use cards that stretch their skills, they need to use their critical thinking skills to figure out the equations that work! These games are great! |
