The little chocolates are cute and attract my kids' attention (surprisingly, without making them ask me for chocolate). My 3-year old just likes to play with the pieces. She's not ready for the game itself. For my 6-year old, learning the rules of how to follow the logic, then doing the gradually more challenging problems is a lot of fun. He liked this game so much for a while, we could use it as motivation for getting ready for school. It is rated for 8+, but if your bright or gifted younger child likes things like Sudoku (even simple versions), then this game is perfect. The puzzles do get harder later (there are 10 at each of 4 levels), so they may get stuck at some point. But the puzzles are very good at "building up" so that they are learning skills to do the harder ones as they go. My son made it well into the 3rd level before taking a break for other pursuits.
