| "GOBBLET" GAME Description:
Kids will gobble up the fun with this first strategy game!
As easy as Tic-Tac-Toe, you can learn GOBBLET in a few seconds and play again and again. Just like the award says, this game is "Major Fun"!
The objective of the game is to be the first person to place four gobblets in a row. Taking turns, players can either put a new gobblet on the board in an open space, OR move a gobblet already on the board to an open space, OR "gobble up" a smaller gobblet with a bigger one! You can "gobble up" your opponent or your own pieces.
However, when you move, you can only move the top piece from the stack (not the whole stack). The game balances the fun of "gobbling up" other pieces with the strategy challenges of how to "hop" larger pieces where you want them without revealing an opponent's piece underneath in a place where you don't want your opponent to be!
Beautifully crafted, GOBBLET is entirely made of wood and includes a great box with self-storage for all pieces. With irresistible fast moving play and astonishingly simple rules, GOBBLET is a fun game for the whole family!

A NOTE FROM LAURI:
A very fun abstract strategy game. Usually the list of "fun" games and the list of "strategy" games, particularly "abstract strategy" games, do not have the same game listed. However, GOBBLET could easily be included in any of those lists. It is unique in combining both fun and strategy!
Great introduction for younger kids to "abstract strategy" games. All "abstract strategy" means is that there is no element of chance, and players are given the same pieces to play. Everything is even for each player, and players win by thinking and by skill, rather than by luck! Gobblet is a great first abstract strategy game, as preparation for more challenging abstract strategy games such as chess.
Families may find Gobblet a better choice than Gobblet Junior: We carry both Gobblet (wooden, 4x4 game) and Gobblet Junior (plastic, 3x3 game). Gobblet Junior is a great choice for preschools and schools where the same age of child will be playing the game year after year. Gobblet may be a better choice for families where kids playing the game grow older. With families, you can still use the 4x4 board and just play 3x3 with younger, beginning players, and expand the game to 4x4 as kids grow and are ready for more challenge. Gobblet also allows for more flexibility for playing with multiple aged kids, where you can make the rules be 3x3 or 4x4 depending on the players.
Younger kids really love this game. I lend out my samples on a regular basis, and I consistently hear how much younger kids really love this game. It's a game where younger kids can often beat older kids or parents, and that really makes it fun for them!
