| "KHET 2.0" LASER Board Game Description:
Welcome to the world of KHET, the game that combines lasers with classic strategy!
Players alternate turns moving Egyptian themed mirrored pieces around the playing field after which they fire their low powered laser diode with the goal of illuminating their opponent's pieces to eliminate them from the game!
Khet has been designed with simple rules that can be learned in minutes, yet achieving wide levels of strategy. There is a high tech and modern feel to the game, arising from the innovative use of lasers and mirrors.
Game Notes:
While the lasers are bright enough to see where they hit even in full daylight, the beam itself is not visible on the playing field. However with the addition of fog or smoke of any kind the beam can be made visible.

Game Reviews:
Board Game Geek: "I love it. It has tactics and strategy and LASERS!! It is one of the best two player games I have played since I found Chess all those long years ago."
Slash Gear: "...let's cut to the chase - Khet is fantastic. The laser is both an attention-grabbing gimmick and an essential part of play, while the pieces are tactile and pleasing...Anyone who can grasp the concept of a laser bouncing at right-angles can play."

A NOTE FROM LAURI:
Khet 2.0 is newly re-designed in 2011 to be smaller and lighter (and less expensive!) than the original version. Initial reviews are very positive!e how they play they tend to be different. Boys tend to use the suggested setups in the instructions and seek to perfect their play with those setups in order to win. Girls tend to want to be more creative in the setups and "see what happens". BUT, girls do like to talk to their opponent so that they mutually try the same new setup, so creativity is desired but they seek equality (and reduce risk) because they both have the same setup at the start.
Khet appeals equally to boys and girls, but they play differently. When I talk to kids who have played KHET, both boys and girls are equally passionate about the game, but when they describe how they play they tend to be different. Favorite game of kids. When I show kids a whole pile of games that they have played, I ask them what they would choose first to play, and invariably they choose KHET as one of their favorite games! |
