PERPLEXORS are a great fit for kids who struggle with fine motor and writing skills. PERPLEXORS are cross-off logic puzzles, which require very little writing. These puzzles are a good fit for kids that might struggle with fine motor skills and writing. Kids can focus on developing logic skills without being hampered by any difficulties with writing. This includes very young gifted children whose logic skills are more advanced than their writing capabilities.

 

Puzzle difficulty consistent with age levels. If you are unsure of the appropriate difficulty level for you child/ren, I have found the recommended age levels to be quite accurate. So, if your child is 6 years old and is generally doing math about 2 years ahead, s/he is likely to be ready for the Basic Level (Ages 8-9). If your child is 10 years old, and is doing math 2 years ahead, s/he is likely to be ready for Level C (Ages 11-12) if this is their first logic workbook, or Level D (Ages 12-14) if they are familiar with logic puzzles.

 

PERPLEXORS for an Auditory-Sequential thinking/learning style. There are two basic thinking/learning styles. Since people that are primarily Auditory-Sequential (left brain dominant) think best in sequential, logical steps, PERPLEXORS will be building upon natural strengths. Auditory-Sequential kids think primarily in words, and logic word puzzles will be very fun and enjoyable for them! If you are considering two levels of books, you may want to consider the higher level of book for Auditory-Sequential kids, as they are more likely to rise to the challenge with their natural abilities.

 

PERPLEXORS for Visual-Spatial thinking/learning style. People that are primarily Visual-Spatial (right brain dominant) think primarily in images and diagrams. PERPLEXORS and step-by-step logic puzzles will be building thinking skills that are supplementary, not dominant. This means that Visual-Spatial kids may find PERPLEXORS to be more difficult than kids of equal ability that are Auditory-Sequential. If you are considering two levels of books, you may want to consider the lower level of book for Visual-Spatial kids. As they work the puzzles, you can encourage them to draw diagrams of how they see the relationships in the puzzles. Drawing pictoral diagrams will help kids to connect their dominant way of thinking (images) with word-based logic problems that will tend to be more difficult puzzles for them to solve. Because so many math programs use word problems as part of the curriculum, PERPLEXORS will help Visual-Spatial kids build sequential logic skills, which tend to be weaker, less dominant skills. In addition, drawing diagrams will help them practice strategies that will help them solve word problems in general math curriculums as well.
