    A NOTE FROM LAURI:

A great *first* strategy game for younger kids. This is definitely a matching game, but it offers an introduction to strategy, too! Kids can look for shapes or colors that match, AND can look for opportunities where a tile can be placed to make matches in multiple directions. With beginners, adults can "help" by ensuring these opportunities exist. Over time, kids will learn to make these opportunities for themselves!

No language required, great for really young gifted kids! Since QWIRKLE is all visual, this is a game that you can start with gifted kids when they are younger than the suggested age. This is also a great game for kids that may have language difficulties or differences. It makes no difference if you are dyslexic or speak a different language!

This is MindWare's most awarded game of all time, with good reason! If you are a fan of MindWare games (I am) than you might appreciate that this is one of their all-time top games.

I really enjoy this game, and so does my son January 15, 2010
Reviewer: Lisa Peppin from Fort Collins, CO United States
What can I say about Qwirkle? This is my single favorite game to play with my son. Its easy to learn, but harder to master. My now 6-year old son has been playing this game for about a year (he could have started sooner, but that's when we got it), and his skills at this game are still developing. Nevertheless, he can beat his parents at times.

I like this game because it forces my son to concentrate if he wants to do well. Once the table gets pretty full (30+ tiles out), you need to really look around carefully, watch what your opponents are doing, etc. to find all of your opportunities and know which are best. Its nice to have a game which is a bit of luck, a bit of strategy, and some concentration. Its a good combination for building my son's skills while giving him the opportunity to be successful (win) sometimes.

But mostly, its just fun to play. Games are typically 30-40 minutes, though can go longer.
