| "3-IN-1 ALL TERRAIN ROBOT" Kit Description:
Create 3 different robots that actually DO the work they are designed for!
With OWI's 3-in-1 ATR Kit, your wannabe robotics engineer can become an engineer with hands-on learning. No soldering is required. Make it, play with it, take it apart and make a new one. What better way to learn how the robotics pieces really fit together than to see how they fit into different robots?
Perhaps start with the forklift, which will actually lift objects up to 100 g. Move on to the rover, which will tackle any type of surface with its all-terrain treads. Then create the gripper, which can grab, lift and carry an object up to 100 g -- take it where you need it.
Use the wired controller to move the robot -- forward, backward, turns, plus lift and grip. Your young engineer will be fully engaged for hours of fun!

A NOTE FROM LAURI:
The design is based on building modules which can then be assembled into robots. There are 3 steps in the assembly. First, assemble the Wired Control Box, which is used with all the robot models. Second, build 10 modules (Base, Gearbox, Right Front Track, Left Front Track, Middle Tracks, Right Arm, Left Arm, Forks, Link A, Link B). Third, decide which robot to build and use the assembled modules to create it. Re-use the modules to build the other robots!
Instructions include diagrams how the robots work. The assembly manual is all visual. After all the assembly diagrams, the manual includes diagrams how each of the robot should work, plus trouble shooting tips, and a circuit diagram.
An intermediate kit provides challenge and fun for older kids! Sometimes it is a challenge to find reasonably priced kits for kids that are more experienced, yet still love to build and assemble and play. This is a great kit for those kids! Great value for the price from a reliable robotics company (OWI)! |
