Series Overview:
The Spiderwick Chronicles is a series of children's books by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black. The books follow the adventures of the Grace children, twins Simon and Jared and their older sister Mallory, after they move into the Spiderwick Estate and discover a world of faeries that they never knew existed.
Books in the Series:
The Field Guide (Book #1, 128 pages)
When the Grace children go to stay at their Great Aunt Lucinda's worn Victorian house, they discover a field guide to fairies and other creatures and begin to have some unusual experiences.
The Seeing Stone (Book #2, 108 pages)
Thanks to the mysterious book left behind by their long-lost great-great-uncle Arthur Spiderwick, life for the Grace kids -- Jared, Simon, and Mallory -- becomes more unpredictable than ever. When Simon goes off in search of his missing kitten and vanishes, Jared is convinced that one of the creatures from Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You has something to do with it. Mallory is not convinced. But when she and Jared have to contend with a band of marauding goblins, she begins to think Jared might be right -- Simon is in grave danger and it's up to her and Jared to save him.
Lucinda’s Secret (Book #3, 128 pages)
With goblins, trolls, and the house boggart all trying to get them, the Grace children turn to Great Aunt Lucinda for help.
The Ironwood Tree (Book #4, 111 pages)
First a pack of vile, smelly goblins snatch Simon. Then a band of elves try to entrap Jared. Why is the entire faerie world so eager to get their hands on Spiderwick's Guide? And will the Grace kids be left alone, now that the Guide has mysteriously disappeared? Don't count on it. At school, someone is running around pretending to be Jared, and it's not Simon. To make matters even worse, now Mallory has disappeared and something foul in the water is killing off all the plants and animals for miles around. Clues point to the old abandoned quarry, just outside of town. Dwarves have taken over an abandoned mine there. And the faerie world's abuzz with the news that a creature with plans to rule the world has offered them a gift to join with him -- he's given them a queen...
The Wrath of Mulgarath (Book #5, 160 pages)
Bruised and battered, Jared, Simon, and Mallory return home to find their home ransacked and learn that Mulgarath has made off with their mother and Spiderwick's Guide. With only the help of Thimbletack, Hogsqueal and Byron, the Grace kids have to defeat Mulgarath and his goblin army. But they have to rescue Arthur Spiderwick from Lorengorn and the elves first.
