The building guide manuals in each set are really excellent. The building guide includes detailed instructions and diagrams to show how the parts work, and how you use them to build structures of each particular building set. The manual also has some very nice extras. There is a "Did You Know?" section with facts about buildings and civil engineering.
There are instructions for many projects to build. Included in the building guide are blueprints for three examples of tower structures (hospital tower, office tower, and transportation terminal). They challenge you to try building a cantilever section, which is a section of a building that does not have supports under it (an overhang, so to speak). AND, once you have one or two examples made, you can be very creative in what you build and how you build it.
Parts are scaled to the common HO scale (1/87). This means that the many, many HO accessories available, such as cars, trucks, trees, and trains, can be added to your model city. If you build a transportation terminal, and you have HO cars and/or trains, wouldn't that be a fun place to play?
